This Coffee Quote blank note card is a perfect card to send to any coffee lover you know.

"I won't be seen until I have my Caffeine" says it all.

The card begins with a stylized painting of a coffee cup

That is mounted on contrasting card stock and then placed on hand made recycled paper made by me. The paper includes computer paper, coffee filters, coffee grounds, leaves, and seeds.

I have a whole series of coffee related cards with lots of different quotes. They make great house warming or thank you gifts when bought in a set.

This week the Etsy Twitter Team is featuring yarncoture, the Etsy shop of Maryum Karim. Maryum is a knit/crochet accessories designer who makes an entire line of knit and crochet sweaters, hats, shrugs, scarves, brooches, spa items, and in the near future, perhaps, even bedding and home decor items!

The designs of yarncoture are aimed at customer comfort and satisfaction. Maryum offer a wide range of products and price points to accommodate every preference and be attractive to any budget. Maryum adds, "I also specialize in custom work to provide my customers with a "haute-couture" boutique experience...there's always going to be something special that a man or woman would like to own in their wardrobe and the experience of creating something special for someone is truly...rewarding".

Looking through her shop, it's not surprising that Maryum delights in using the finest materials and trying out new stiches and techniques. And inspiration? She says "Anything can inspire me..a strong personality, a beautiful vintage button, some soft fluffy yarn...anything! Keep an eye on yarncoture for new designs for the Fall/Winter 2019-2011 season! Maryum is halfway to her goal of 300 sales this year and she's hoping the winter season will bring in lots of sales...and very satisfied repeat customers!

Maryum uses Twitter in a way reminiscent of fine shopkeepers by greeting everyone, talking a little bit about what she's working on, responding to other people's tweets of interest, and maybe tweet about some of the items in her Etsy shop. She believes that keeping her virtual shelves stocked with new and unique items is what brings sales to her shop...and that great customer service results in wonderful word-of-mouth advertising!

Hitting Target Homework

I just finished reading Katydid Designs newsletter article called "Are You Hitting Your Target" http://www.katydid-designs.com/Newsletter.html and it really motivated me. I have been toying with the idea to change the direction of my business.
Basically I am making greeting cards and note cards for all occasions. Incorporating handmade papers and small watercolor drawings with printed quotes. While I want to continue with these cards I have been wanting to expand my business into invitations and party items. Possible starting a separate website for these.
For a starting point I feel like I need to narrow my field even more. I have decided I want to start with Bar and Bat Mitzvah invitations. I have experience with Bar and Bat Mitzvah planning and creating unique individual invitations and party paper supplies such as programs, table assignments, room bags etc.
Laura gave a homework assignment in her newsletter
Tell who your target is and list 3 places to advertise other then online.
After I decided on my new direction this assignment was easy.

My target is Jewish Parents of 11-13 year old children.
Places to advertise
Jewish newspapers in major cities
Synagogue Newsletters
National Jewish magazines such as Bnai Brith or Hadassah
JCC Bullitens or newsletters.

I am really excited with my new direction and can't wait to get started.

Beth's designs ship internationally as well as in the US, and offer the beauty and individuality of a hand-crafted card for any occasion, something many of us wish for when confronted by racks of mass-produced cards.

"All of what I make is something I would give to someone myself. I cut, stamp, color and put all these together by hand. I do not have any kind of printing machine or mass produce cards (wouldn't it be nice though!). All of my products are available in multiples and I'm happy to do custom orders or change colors if desired.

"A stay-at-home mom to two boys, Beth finds creating an outlet for her inner girl."Most of the time, we are playing outside getting sweaty and dirty so being able to play with ribbons and glitter is a nice treat for me.

My inspirations come from anywhere! I get ideas from nature, magazines, friends, anywhere really. I'm still learning every day about new techniques, ways to make my product better, ways to photograph and edit my pictures as well as new crafting products. It's a never ending lesson for me and I think that is what keeps me going and excited about my craft.
